Wow, church today was such a blessing!!  It was college Sunday...we led worship and Jason (our college pastor) preached on 1 Thes. 1:1-4...Praise God for working in such marvelous ways through him this morning!  Talk about convicting.  Paul was so concerned for the young and heavily persecuted church at Thessalonica, yet when Timothy brought word of how they were doing, he was driven to his knees, praising and thanking God for the wonderful work he was doing in them--the work of faith, labor of love and hope that is steadfast.  Is my life characterized by those things?  If someone was to bring Paul a "report" of my life, would he be driven to his knees to praise God?  At the end of each chapter in the book of 1 Thessalonians, Paul writes something to encourage the church to look forward to the coming of Christ.  How often it is that my mind is on earthly things!  How often it is that I do not have eternity in mind!

Dear Father, forgive me for being content to dwell on worldly things, and not on things above.  Let me spend no time, have no conversation, do no action without Christ and eternity in mind!

"Soon shall close thy earthly mission, soon shall pass thy pilgrim days.  Hope shall change to glad fruition--faith to sight and prayer to praise."

I am so thankful that because of Christ's work on the cross, and because of the fact that I am covered in His righteousness, that I can approach God's throne boldly, knowing that Christ himself is my one mediator...Praise God that He is so faithful to answer prayer...

Holy Father, I praise you and thank you for who You are!  I am nothing, Lord; continue to humble me, and make me more like Jesus!
